About the artist
Arden Rose

Arden Rose is a Victoria, British Columbia-based artist working in oil and mixed-media. Living in British Columbia most of her life, she has spent a great deal of her childhood running wild in the hills on the outskirts of Kamloops. With an Economics degree from the University of Victoria and an MBA from McMaster University, Rose began to explore her creative side after establishing a mainstream career. Professionally and self-taught, she is influenced by the Expressionist movement, Fauvism, and Amedeo Modigliani in particular. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and Rose sees beauty in the natural world, old buildings, and humanity, all of which contribute to her inspiration. Rose’s work ranges from impressionistic portraits to bold interiors, landscapes, portraiture and florals. After a two-week residency in Orquevaux France, Rise became enchanted with elegant, historic interiors. Her artwork embarks on a whimsical exploration of the enchanting elegance found within 19th-century interiors, where each room dances with tales of opulence and refinement. Delving beyond mere representation, she infuses her canvases with a touch of magic, inviting viewers to step into the fantastical realm of Victorian parlors, Rococo drawing rooms, and neoclassical salons. "Through a playful interplay of light, colour, and composition, I strive to capture the palpable sense of whimsy and luxury that characterized these historical spaces. Each brushstroke serves as an invitation to imagine oneself amidst the splendor of a bygone era."
