UK-Canadian artist and photographer Nikki Baxendale is renowned for both her work behind the lens and on canvas. With a degree from the University for Creative Arts in London, graduating with distinction, Baxendale went on to study several disciplines in photography, notably the documentary style, at The International Centre for Photography in New York. In addition, she has studied with several award-winning photographers as a passionate pursuit and constant desire to evolve. Baxendale's solo show with her painting series, "The Magic Beneath", at the Tofino Gallery of Contemporary Art in summer 2023 drew wide praise. Subsequently, a photographic arctic expedition tour in Svalbard, Norway in fall 2023 informed her outstanding painting series, "Into the Ice", featured in the Vancouver Culture Crawl. She received an Honorable Mention for her photography work by 100 for the Ocean, an online print fundraiser representing 100 of the world’s best photographers and artists, with 100% of funds going to ocean conservation. Baxendale was selected for two residencies with Pouch Cove Foundation in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland. She held a solo show in June 2024 with her painting series, "Obsidian Seas" at the James Baird Gallery. Baxendale’s work is collected regionally and internationally.
