In Lucy Schappy's "La Vie En Rose" series, Schappy draws upon her French heritage and love of France. The paintings represent a simpler life that delights in freedom and space, and celebrates life's small luxuries, like fresh-cut flowers or a bath.

Matisse and Picasso are big influences in Schappy's work as she strives to create lovely scenes where women bask in life's splendid "now". Schappy seeks to surround herself with beauty, and sets her figures in such places, knowing that its power can be transportive.
