Small paintings make a big impact in the right setting.
A new movement in interior design is challenging the art world’s traditional appetite for large-scale paintings. Instead of congesting a space with big works or sprawling salon-style walls, there’s a growing audience for small, signature pieces which allow for an intimate connection and poignant presence.
With pleasure, I’ve curated twelve small works, priced at $1,200 or less, by Canadian contemporary artists in painting, metal sculpture and three-dimensional art. Participating artists are Janice Beaudoin, Tiffany Blaise, Richelle Osborne, Lucy Schappy, Elly Smallwood, Frances Solar, Libby Weir and Chin Yuen.
